3d animated short - feedback needed
Posted by KoRnflakes on October 16, 2008

This short was part of my my diploma-thesis "Emotionality in three-dimensional abstraction"(june08) .
At this I analyse the possibility to give life to primitive geometric physiques without changing the figures with extremities or facial expression.
I use the some of the 12++ Animation principles to underline and enhance the expressions. Everthing is done by myself, from concept scetches to final gathering with music and effects in nearly one month with a standard laptop.

So I would be very very glad to hear "more" opinions about this shortmovie. I'm still in concepting a new short and i really want to improve the next movie. So it is necessary for me to get a feeling about the mistakes i've done. Thats why i'm requesting you for feedback, especially what u don't like. Thx alot

Watch my shortmovie and tell me what u think about.

I personally thought it was Great! I really like the part where they go from 3D to 2D on the paper.

Very well done! Since you mentioned being particularly interested in feedback on elements that we don't like, I looked really hard to try to find something of that nature, (but it was not easy!)

The best suggestion I can come up with for improvement would be to perhaps increase the number or length of the "high action" parts. The cylinder getting stuck in the gum and then getting snapped into the light (and burned a bit) was great. I think a somewhat expanded role for that type of scene might make your next movie even more entertaining.

I definitely hope to see more of your videos here soon, although I can well understand that it takes time, given all of the effort you put into it :)

I really liked the video a lot. Your animating is fantastic. The only thing I can really suggest, is that maybe you could have had the shapes interact with the surroundings more. I liked how the ball got into the ink and made a mess, but I would have liked to maybe see them knock stuff off of the desk, and seen their reactions. More interaction is what I am basically trying to convey =) Anyway, great job. Sorry for responding so late.
